and ripple across vertebrae
and I am lost.
Under the grey threats of sky,
I am swallowed in seas of rippling sunshine
and thrust against rapids.
I look for myself in the spaces between shoulderblades
and in the softness of your earlobes.
I don't find love.
But I did find lips that kiss with all the fury of the sea
and as I let water crash over me
I find that it's easier to breathe underwater
when there is nothing left to fear.
I have nothing,
except the touch of your hands
and tangles of red and gold.
Raindrops become oceans
and even as I am enveloped into blackness,
I do not feel small -
Not with your body pressed against mine.
